Mixed thoughts. Don't love it, don't hate. I need to give it a few more listens, but I feel like he's adding too much extra noise into his songs lately, getting further away from his natural sound, if that makes sense? I'll admit though, I'm a little nervous for this album release at the end of the month. I haven't really loved anything he's released from it so far... What are you thinking?

I actually like Bassy’s newest single but agree that none of the others caught me yet. He and his team seem to be following today’s norm of overproducing and introducing “noise” instead of melody. Digressing, we’ll see how this shakes out at the end of the month. As for John’s new stuff: I think both songs suck. Admittedly, his stuff has a way of growing on me years later, but these are going to be tough.

John's here tomorrow and I'm 150% regretting not getting tickets when they first went on sale. Even though they were originally the most expensive I've ever seen from him, I've been watching resells and these prices are insane. Any chance you were there the night Continuum was played in full? Never been more jealous of a setlist in my entire life.

So you’ll never believe this, but I ended up buying tickets when they were still reasonable - for the Continuum night. A series of life events converged that Friday (none of them good), so I didn’t end up going. The only saving grace is I made 200% on each ticket haha. But my heart sank even more when I saw that set list. I wonder why tickets for this tour are so wild? The others were expensive but nothing like this. Or maybe that’s because I always bought them early?

Oh noooo! Oh man, I hope everything's okay. But that's a heck of a turn around, so congrats on that! Lol. I don't know what's going on with his prices unless maybe just concert tickets in general are way up. I was looking into going to see Post Malone in a couple months when he's here but lord they're just as pricey. Or maybe I'm just really becoming an adult and realizing I don't have as much money as I wish I did and it's not so easy to get more, haha.

I completely understand how you feel. I think because their previous album, to me personally, sits on quite a high pedestal it's hard for it to be topped. I am liking it more and more each day I give it a listen though and I am looking forward to hearing the new music live.

I really don't want to be mean, but I think I prefer their older album :/ Maybe it's because I literally treat it like my baby, but I don't think anything could beat Holy Smoke. It is growing on me though and I think I just need to give it time. It will probably end up being my favourite soon! I am loving Bones, All In My Stride and Younger. Obviously Heaven Up There, Running Wild and No Other are very good, but I have listened to them a lot in the build up to the new album. How are you finding it?

I feel you however I've sadly listened quite a bit, so I don't have as many songs to look forward to :( I totally agree! I wish bands would do that, like at this rate they might as well release the whole album in one shot. Good to hear you are still liking them though! I really am excited to hear the new music tomorrow!

Buzzing! I do feel like they have released a lot of the new songs off the record already though lol. You still liking them?

Over 100 with fees for the top level, over 200 with fees for the second level and the floor i don't even want to know what seats there are going for! lol! I think we paid 175 last time he was here and were in the 13th row... so a bit of a spike. I still may fold closer to and end up getting crappy seats just to go. I've been playing an old mix CD with all of my favorites the past few weeks and it's got me in a rare John mood. I like what you said about living our formative years with his music, that's dead on. Guess I am pretty biased!

Anytime is acceptable to listen to Palace. Ah i'm glad you are enjoying! My favourite is definitely the mini concert on some sort of beach, it's called 'live @Great Wide Open' and it will bless your ears. They are superb, it's crazy what the singer can do on the guitar, when I saw them live I was literally amazed by him. May be a long swim, but every second would be worth it!

Well i'm glad you are enjoying them, always good to see people appreciating stunning music. Ah yes! Such great choices! Bitter on Lost in the Night is just so much better and raw compared to the album version, I personally find. I love Kiloran to bits along with Live Well, but Holy Smoke is definitely my favourite too. I still can't get over how amazing and pretty it is when I listen. Over Now is another good one and Heaven Up There i'd say i'm starting to like more and more. If you get a chance you should definitely check out some of their acoustic performances on Youtube, some I find myself listening to more than the studio recordings! I am British and I could put in my best work for you? I think they'd definitely gain more attention if so, but I suppose it might be something they'll consider after festivals and their upcoming tour here.

Haha really?! Well that's an addiction I like to hear. I know it must be super annoying as they are seriously insane live! I do keep seeing them say they will be heading over there soon though, so patience. What would you say your favourite tunes are so far?

No way? I was under the impression you were a long time listener. No problem though, make sure you stick around as there will be a new album in July!

Wow. Just had an instant connection, love, goose bumps moment with Emotional Oranges. The Juice is... perfect. I don't know, they're like this perfect fit into what I think music should sound like? Haha. You always suggest the best artists, I've been listening to a ton of Alina Baraz lately. THANK YOU! And I think I just put old John on an impossibly high pedistal. I grew up with him and his music helped me through so many life changing moments and I just can't get on board with his lyrically lacking, internet celebrity new persona. It makes me so sad because I love him so much! But after looking at ticket prices for this tour... I realized I don't love him enough right now to pay that much! Lol

Well that does it, I'm convinced! No lie though... they're releasing tickets for Summer 19 on the 29th and I'm going to see if I can get lucky twice. I'll let fate decide... if I can get cheap tickets again, I'm headed back! If not... I'm sure I'll come up with an excuse to come back anyways :)

It was incredible. That's a beautiful city you live in!! And keep trying everything in your power to get tickets for Cursed Child, it'll be worth every effort. It was just the best thing that ever could be, lol. Rain messed us up bit on Saturday but we adjusted. Looking at the weather I was expecting much worse! Just the right amount of chill in the air the whole time. Missed out on a trip to the Museum of Natural History due to it shutting down for a trick or treating event but got to do every other thing I had on my list, so I'd say it was a successful weekend! I'm ready to come back! Lol

We head up on Friday! I'm so excited! Finally decided on a place on 46th st, so close enough to Times Square, the theater and close to Grand Central to get everywhere else we need. Found a place for a decent enough price (1300 for three nights ughhh) which was basically the going rate for anywhere I looked, but this place has a private terrace off our room which I think makes it all worth it! Lol! I've listened my way through Marc's EP quite a few times. Didn't even know it was coming so a pleasant surprise! I don't LOVE any of the songs on it, I don't think it's his best work by any means... but I I don't think he's ever released anything that I haven't liked. He's one of those rare artists for me that can do no wrong. *knock on wood!* Absolutely loved the latest recommendations, thank you! That's a vibe I can get behind. Made my way a little deeper into both libraries and am really enjoying everything I've heard. You always point me in the perfect direction, thank you!

Finding a hotel that isn't basically a grand a night is my current struggle, lol. Okay not so much a night but i haven't found anything yet for less than a grand for three nights. I'm taking a risk and waiting as long as I can, hoping they'll get cheaper closer to. And yes! My last trip up was actually for Derek Jeter's last home game at Yankee Stadium. Bucket list trip right there. Best night of my life! Sad to say I haven't kept up with them as I should since he's left, but I still keep tabs. I'd love for them to head to the Series, if they could just catch up to Boston. Ugh. I loved everything you recommended. I especially like SZA. I've seen her name several places the past few months and have been meaning to give her a listen but just haven't. I've created a Spotify playlist for your suggestions, lol, so please keep them coming! :)

I noticed that!! I'm hoping that there's still a chance for east coast dates. It's been a while since I've seen Matt! I got insanely lucky. I entered the lottery the second time around and won the chance to buy the tickets. I pre picked out a ton of dates and was lucky enough to get a pretty good queue number and got in almost immediately. Still had to go with one of my last choice dates but STILL. Ended up paying about $600 for 2 tickets. Decided to try again once they went on general sale and ended up getting tickets for the same date for $160. I felt like the actual luckiest person on earth. I returned the first set, i probably could've gotten a couple grand for them but that wouldn't have been right or fair. I am not taking for granted the fact that luck was on my side. I basically packed for this trip and it's still two months away. Ha! I'm so, so excited. But anyways, I have not heard of her but am going to go check her out now! Thanks, I'm always looking for new music to love!

It translated to stage/stand up very well. I'm honestly not sure how he'd hold up on his own, he was only sans Chapelle when he played his songs, but the two of them together are comical puzzle pieces that fit perfectly into each other. It's kind of weird, but it was absolutely an event to remember. Definitely thankful I live in Atlanta, because so far it's been only the big cities that've gotten Controlled Danger. We seem to get just about everyone thru here, it's always odd when someone I like tours and DOESN'T have an Atlanta show. Even though I don't get to as many shows as I used to, it's always nice to have the options! It's got to be like that for you too though, right? Is there anyone that doesn't play NYC?! I'm really excited cause i'll be up there at the end of October. I was lucky enough to score HP & the Cursed Child tickets!

I saw the Trio when they came through Atlanta and that's probably my favorite time. They played the Tabernacle, which is a really small venue compared to what he normally plays and I was able to get right up against the stage. It was the first time I got to see his magic up close. My most favorite John Mayer live moment ever though.. when 'Controlled Danger' rolled through town last year. Him & Dave Chapelle have an epic chemistry and I laughed the entire time. It was general admission so we got there early enough to sit in the front row on the side of the stage and I just wish I could go back and relive it. He played about 5 songs (all old good songs! yay!), Dave came out and did a set, and then they came out together and it was everything I never knew I wanted! Lol! Have you had a chance to see him live?

I definitely agree. He can still put on a damn good show and he's good at what he does... i just can't help but compare it to his older stuff, which outshines all. I know it's definitely some nostalgia on my part. I grew up with him being my all time favorite musician. I remember buying Heavier Things from Target the day it came out, Continuum day of at Best Buy... I respect his ability to grow and adapt as an artist, I just feel like he could've gone in such a better direction. BUT, I am but one fan unwilling to let go of the beginning of his career, lol. And Clarity... 100%. I've got that tattooed on the back of my neck, it's an all-time favorite. His new work isn't all bad, it jut doesn't compare. The 10 shows does include 2 Trio shows. I do wish he'd break the Trio out again, that was a good point in time.

Also, little side rant then i'll stop leaving chapters on your page... his lyricism. I think that he has completely regressed lyrically from his first few albums. His songs now have nowhere near the depth and meaning that they used to, and that especially bothers me. The end. :)

Whew! Glad I'm not the only one! So many people seem to love it but I just don't get it. I saw him at the Atlanta stop of his album tour and it just bummed me the heck out. It was my 10th show but the first where I wasn't able to sing along to every song. Or even half. He has too many crappy ones to choose from now. I left sad, which made me even more sad! Lol. I've tried so hard to hang on, but he's making it too hard! Guess I'll just continue to live in my pre Battle Studies John bubble.

I've been pretty good, what about you? I wish I'd been able to get back into my old account when I got my new computer, oh the scrobbles I'd have! Lol. I'm very impressed by yours! I know it's not really new anymore but thoughts on John Mayer's latest album?? I'm trying so hard to get into his new sound & vibe but I think I love old John too much.

So I just looked at your charts out of curiosity and I feel like....I don't listen to any of this! Recommend me one artist/band. I need our tastes to be more in sync again!
