Hey Dude, thanks a lot for accepting my request and also following. :) You have really good taste in music. Your library is very interesting, I've already discovered some bands there that I didn't know yet that I'm going to listen to, so thanks for discovering new bands. maybe I could also get an album rec #85 from you please? Have a good start into the new week and best regards from Germany :)

thanks! glad to hear Ive been helping out with discovering music! as for album, here's https://www.last.fm/music/Nouvelle+Vague - a french group that does Bossa Nova style covers of 80s synthpop music. their first album is one of those rare albums that's perfect start to finish

I actually ended up missing out on slowdive- I procrastinated too long on buying tickets and by the time I got around to it all that were left were tickbastard's self-scalped tickers for $150, and as much as I like slowdive I aint paying that much. I did get to see them a few years ago, so I'm content with that. As for MM, I'm glad he's touring again, but to honest his last few tours have been total train wrecks quality wise. But if the price is right, and it's not too far away, I might check it out.

it's alright... I was planning up to the last minute on going to slowdive, but yikes, those prices, as for MM, last time I saw him was during the Rob Zombie tour in 2019. He fumbled the lyrics on more than one song, wandered aimlessly about stage, banter was just drunken ramblings that made no sense, and reduced himself to playing Medleys instead of full songs. But hey. maybe he used the time off to clean up and rehearse. And plus he hasnt looked this good in his recent pics since 2003, so that's a good sign. All he needs to do is reunite with Twiggy, and bury the hatchet with Pogo (which will never happen, but still nice to dream of) and Ill be there front row.

Hiya, thanks for the follow back! Love seeing another fellow old-timer who's still active on here — and has a wicked library to boot :) I'm tempted to try my luck with an album rec. #13, please?

Absolutely! And yes, it really is great seeing another old timer who still remembers the good old days! For the album, here's the lost highway soundtrack, one of those rare albums that's damn near perfect especially for late winter nights.... plus the way its organized and mixed, it feels like listening to the movie, and not just a collection of songs from the movie

Thanks! I'll check it out and report back, haha. Lynch has been haunting my bucket list for decades, as in only ticked off a couple of films (The Lost Highway not among them). Perhaps this soundtrack will lure me in properly.

Not counting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles coming out of their shells tour I saw when I was 11 or so, it was a large local music fest headlined by Smash Mouth and Sugar Ray back in summer of 1997, on the eve of their big breakthrough... they were enjoyable enough but the best acts were Radio Iodine (a good one hit wonder- think female fronted Gravjty Kills) and Plexi (another good one hit wonder, this one being more glam/space rock style) how about yourself?

Filter is one of the few bands remaining on my live bucket list. Had an opportunity to see them live last year with ministry and alice Cooper, but it was hot as hell, too far of a drive, stupid expensive just to see one band out of three, and it's too painful to watch nu-ministry suck so bad playing live these days

lets see... off the top of my head, I would first reccomend Gravity Kills, Razed in Black, Sister Machne Gun, Die Krupps, Front Line Assembly, (Almost) anything from the waxtrax label, Pig, Leaetherstrip, Android Lust, Front 242, Gary Numan 1993 and up, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and probably more as my brain comes up with them

https://www.last.fm/music/Marilyn+Manson+&+The+Spooky+Kids/The+Family+Jams - one of the better of the pre-portrait demos, with some different versions of family tracks as well as some great tracks that didnt make the final cut but should have. obtaining an original physical copy of those cassettes would be a holy grail for the collector in me, but who am I kidding- I dont have that kind of cash. the whole album is also posted at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmCvpoOXI1s

iirc I saw you mention somewhere how you don't like how on lastfm friends are sepereated into 'following' and 'followers', and now that I've started making friends on here, I'm also beginning to find it very annoying. not only do you not get notifications when someone follows you but I also feel bad for not following someone back... regardless of my rant, I occasionally check out your shoutbox for some interesting recs so thanks for that!

no problem! I dont always follow people back, but it's seldom personal. If it's an obvious troll they go straight to the ignore list, and if its someone who either throws up too many red flags or someone I dont see having anything in common with, I just let them follow without following back. Ive had too many negative experiences with being too free with the follow. but Im also trying to relax my fences a little bit too.

I saw the announcement on the Wax Trax Instagram page this morning. Based on their live albums they sound like an amazing live band but sadly I never had the chance to see them. I think I had tickets to see them in Manchester (it was them or Front Line Assembly - I forget), but the shows were cancelled due to the pandemic. And thanks for the recommendation! I probably wouldn't have come across Silverfish myself! I can definitely get Pigface vibes, and Rankin's raspy vocals and stream-of-consciousness lyrics remind me of Foetus (but maybe that's just me).

I can definitely here a little bit of foetus in there, now that I think about it! I was lucky enough to see Front 242 live in Chicago during the 2011 Wax Trax 33 1/3 reunion show. Unfortunatly, but that time in their set I was kinda drunk so the details are foggy. I may make a roadtrip to see them one last time, depending on my finances

Im always happy to help people with their library building! here's https://open.spotify.com/album/7DhOUpPseaXq4f8gLI8MGI - Goth's Undead, one of the many Cleopatra goth comps that were ubiquitous in the mid to late 90s, and there are so many great tracks on this one. This was my road cruising jam back in my high school days! for whatever;s not playable on spotify, here's https://www.last.fm/user/DXP6986/playlists/12082695

I just had the weirdest nostalgia trip because of listening to this.. Satan's Little Helpers sounds (to my severely atrophied brain) like playing the Dr. Tongue level of Zombies Ate My Neighbors with the volume cranked on my TV so I could hear the music over my brother blaring Rammstein from his room next door. I expect exactly no one on this planet to understand this bizarre association but holy hell thank you for such an intense brain trip. The 90s were a weird and special time, eh? This is one hell of a good compilation, my friend, and thanks for creating the playlist to include what's missing from spotify. Doing Satan's work. I imagine that was some intensely fun road cruisin back in the day with this madness at top volume. You provided a top quality soundtrack for this afternoon and spun me off into those industrial Electronic Savior compilations from the early 2010s now. You have my gratitude and I'll be checking in for more stuff from you in the future if that's cool.

Im not opposed to the product on any real principle- the only gripe I have is that it's bad about notifying me of new messages. my complaint with discord is it's user base being full of all sorts of toxic 8chan-esgue people, and connecting lastfm to discord has opened the floodgates to them

Yeah, me neither. Actually I don't think that I disliked the new design, more like missed the old one especially when it had its own radio stations. But I'm ok with it now, and yeah, absolutely, I don't get notifications every time someone replies. And yeah, that's true about Discord unfortunately

Some other stuff I might be missing? Would like industrial goth stuff but not too sugary and neither¨dressed up¨ You know, custome tactics don't work for me anymore. The more outlandish they dress the less atenttion I pay. Goth, industrial overtones, can be close to CD Rozz era + heavier and rhytmic. Thank you.

Many thanks for the recommendation! I really enjoyed this record and I really liked her style so much that I couldn't help putting her picture as profile. She's so beautiful in her own unique manner. Think I'm going to delve into her catalog soon. Now may I ask for a #288. Hope you've had a Happy New Year!

glad you liked it! My personal favorite of hers is Is This Desire, Just about everything she did in the 90s and early 00s is damn near perfect, but she gets a bit experimental in the more recent years. as for 288, here is https://www.last.fm/music/Reverend+Horton+Heat/Smoke+%27em+If+You+Got+%27em - its their debut album, and its a strange and awesome fusion of Rockabilly, Punk Rock, and a dash of Surf music that theyve pioneered as Psychobilly

Hey, thanks for the add. #763. Can I ask you for a recommendation? I need industrial acts with females, either frontwomen or lineups. I tried with Genevive Pasquier, and Emilie Autumn but really they just don't click. They're too sugary. I'd like something raw, made by women. Thank you.

https://www.last.fm/music/Spahn+Ranch/Beat+Noir - Spahn Ranch were a great reliable mainstay on the cleopatra label back in the 90s with good dark electronic work that was more atmospheric than harsh. As far as industrial women- I strongly recommend https://www.last.fm/music/Meg+Lee+Chin who was a frequent contributor to Pigface with one album and one remix EP, and https://www.last.fm/music/Sow, who was Raymond Watt's wife and collaborator who sadly passed away a few years back after releasing 3 albums

Oh, don't be so sure. I've had quite a few years to build it up. I'm not going to take the time to add it up, but I'm sure it's big. I'm glad though you're not letting these assholes pollute your page though. Out of sight is out of mind, and these people despise being ignored and unrecognized. Blocking is the next best thing to erasing from existence.

https://www.last.fm/music/Einst%C3%BCrzende+Neubauten/Ende+Neu - this was the one album they released on Trent Reznor's Nothing Label back in the 90s (a good hallmark of quality music back in those days- if an album had the Nothing Records logo on it, you could be reasonable sure you were going to get a good album). This one is an excellent gateway album to discovering their work, I think.

Ive always thought black and white photos of bands/artists to be a bit more artistic, aesthetically pleasing, and harkens back to the good old days of publicity photos provided by record labels. Plus, being able to pick my band picture helps me to avoid band name squatters (especially K-Pop boy bands) that have usurped the band page and voted up their band pics with bot-votes (Ikon has been very bad about this)

https://www.last.fm/user/DXP6986/library/music/Various+Artists/100+Tears+:+A+Tribute+To+The+Cure it's one of the MANY "tribute" album compilations that (former) goth label Cleopatra Records was notorious for back in the 90s. The varying quality is hit-or-miss, but this one has some pretty good and faithful covers from bands definitly worth checking out.

last.fm red flags: Anime themed avatar (largest one). Scrobbling since 2019 or later. Bladee and/or Kayne West in top artists. Types only in Cyrillic. Language only consists of post-millennial slang. music compatibility is low, Ironic or Unironic sociopolitical extremism. activism, claims of being autistic. avatar image includes cats/kittens. gratuitous overuse of the word "literally". Thanks, I've been listening to MM a lot when I was younger but never listened to demo versions. As for the first one, I am officially out of excuses for not listening to Swans. I've always wanted to listen to Swans, Rome and Triarii, and for some reason never really dived into their discographies. I appreciate the recommendations and will be back for more :)

I remember hearing about how MM played a show in my home town at a small dive bar around 1994. Of course I was top young to see it, but I still curse myself for missing out on the show. Both in the wrong state, AND wrong year. On a related note, that same place eventually became notorious for crime dealings, dead bodies getting buried in the basement, and eventually burned to the ground.

I think that its kinda unfortunate that Eric Erlandsen gets so constantly overlooked when he's always been the primary music writer for the band, and that Courtney stole her entire image and style from Babes In Toyland. that being said, while Hole is a copycat band, theyre not a bad copy of the source material... and whatever else Courtney is guilty of, she does get attacked too much for being falsely accused of killing kurt and/or golddigging. She's just a trainwreck who knows the right way and right people to copy from

Kazik is a real legend here, especially his band Kult and his solo albums - the lyrics are about Poland - politics, ugliness, social problems, etc. I don't really listen to Polish music. We have some bands known outside the country, e.g. Vader, Mgła, Behemoth, Decapitated. There used to be a good rock and punk underground too, in the 80s. The state and censorship would allow it to exist as a safety valve - to prevent young people pissed at communism not to get too rebellious. It's amazing that you have heard of Mona Mur and I haven't!
