Blackened deathcore is an amalgamation of and , to varying degrees. While it isn't fundamentally very different from traditional deathcore, it tends to employ more treble and delay in the riffs to give it a "blackened" feel, and often uses -style keys/synth and shrieked vocals heavily. Blackened deathcore bands are often influenced by , traditional black metal and artists, along with the expected deathcore/ influences. Frozen Water Burial and To Kill For are examples of this fusion genre. Some bands, like Abigail Williams, A Hill to Die Upon and Dark Lay Still, used to play a decidedly blackened deathcore style, but have since progressed to a blackened death metal sound.
