Upstairs at Eric's () is Yazoo's first album produced by the band and Eric Radcliffe with assistance from Daniel Miller. It reached # 2 in UK and # 92 in US. It was later released as an audio CD in October 25, .

The album is an influential release which did much to establish the link between American-style and European , a marriage which defined much of the Top 40 throughout the . The album, named after the duo's living space in producer Eric Radcliffe's home during the recording, contains three classic singles: Don't Go, the -club staple Situation, and the ballad Only You.

When issued on compact disc in , I Before E Except After C, which is composed mostly of cut-up speech and is generally considered not to fit in with the rest of the album, was dropped from the tracklisting. The track still appears on the U.S. version. However, none of the American releases include Tuesday, which was unreleased in the USA until included on a "Best Of" package in .
