I had an ex who seemed to understand this was her song a few months into a 3-year relationship, and played it constantly. I swear she was trying to program me, but she didn't have to. I relate to this more than I ever wished I would when I discovered it at 15..

seeing as how this song came out before elliott smith's album I believe you all mean how much elliot smith's song sounds like Weens "Sweet Baby Bitch"

I love it when an artist references their songs with-in their songs (Birthday Boy).

I had to do a double take to make sure I was still listening to Ween the first time I heard this and not Elliott Smith.

Pretty sure this song was written before Elliot Smith had even recorded a solo album. Must just be coincidence.

I think their intention was for it to sound like Elliott Smith. But yeah I love this song, I always wondered if it was legitimately sad or a mockery.

I love this song. It's weird how it reminds me of Elliott Smith. I guess I'm not the only one that thought that.

Baby Bitch = Long, Long, Long (The Beatles) which is why is sounds like Elliot Smith too. To these ears anyway.

Damn, I just heard this song and I was like "Wow, this sounds so much like Elliott Smith. I bet I'm the first person to realize this!". Then I came here. Thanks for ruining my dream, guys.

I can see the Elliott Smith thing, but I don't think it's what they were specifically going for - arrangement-wise it reminds me mainly of something off Either/Or or XO, and neither of those albums were even out at the time. If anything I'd guess they were trying to do a George Harrison song.
