I like Raw Power but its a fake Stooges album. THIS is the real deal, NOBODY can replace GUITAR GOD RON ASHETON!

Listen to that off-the-wall spastic Hendrix-ing. James Williamson could only wish to solo like that.

Is anyone familiar with the type of bass guitar being used throughout this album? It sounds like a fretless bass, most notably on the track L.A. Blues, but I still can’t quite tell, and I haven’t found any information online stating what it is.

Late responding to this, but Dave Alexander used a Fender Jazz Bass. It's certainly possible he might have used a different model on occasion but that is the bass he used as his regular instrument.

Ah yes, I saw a few images of him using a Fender. I looked up some of the images for the Fun House sessions, and he's actually holding a different bass in the studio. Idk if it's similar to the Fender, but its actually a blue Mosrite Ventures bass. Not sure if it was fretless, but it sure sounded like it. You can see it in this image here: https://www.uncut.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/GettyImages-156805917-696x522-1.jpg

Yeah, Sabbath s/t may have ben revolutionary, but no doubt that, "this is probably the rawest, heaviest album to come out in 1970. Pure joy to listen to." ;)

'Funhouse' sucks, dumb caveman idiot rock for party animal escapist wimps. The self-titled album is for the real heads: Bleak, atonal, and ugly.

Definitely the best Stooges album and one of the best rock records in general.

If you like rock music at all, this has to be in your collection. Absolutely one of the all time greats. No one has ever come close to the pure unhinged rock bliss that these guys tapped into for this album. The debut is great, but it can't touch Fun House. Where the band felt a little bit mannered at times on that record, here they sound like drunken, drugged up madmen who've just escaped the asylum, stolen some instruments and set about making the loudest, wildest, craziest rock album in history. I love every track on here and to my ears it's sequenced perfectly. "L.A. Blues" is like the hangover/meltdown after the drink- and drug-binge of the other songs.
