Just rediscovered them since Carved In Sand with Another Fall From Grace. Very good album. I wonder if the other albums in between are as good?

"I just remember bands like The Mission or The Sisters of Mercy. I remember seeing them on TV once and just thinking how absolutely tragic and negative and depressing it was ... Wayne Hussey was a guitarist in my band for about 3 months and then we fired him because there was no role for him. And about 3 years later he emerged in The Mission and he was a MORMON for God's sake... And next thing he's got waist-length black hair and he's covering himself in white makeup and it's just... To me, goth is just an area for pathetic, negative people to go.. depressed and fed up. Well, they think they're depressed and fed up.. and they're overweight.. and they just want to hide behind all this imagery" - Pete Burns

Nice thoughts by the guy that spent the savings of his life in plastic surgeries.

Is it just me or Paul Roberts (in 1991-2005 a singer of The Stranglers) has a deceptively similar voice to Wayne? For example The Stranglers song from the early 90's called Leave it to the dogs easily would be The Mission song.

It is more erratic, but on the other hand tsom can only be judged on the strength of 3 albums and some EPs, and the first 3 mission albums were killers. I'm of the firm opinion that both Wayne's and Andrew's best material is the album/singles they produced together. Shame it ended very quickly.

I also didn't know what to expect at all - old The Mission was just adorable, new was something which I not remember that good, but still, with some potential. And what can I say - it's better, definitely. It's something between old and new, like slow coming back to great roots. Some tracks are not that interesting, but some has great old school gothic rock sound, some also has really catching, dark atmosphere - for example, my present favourite "Within the Deepest Darkness (Fearful)". So what should I say? If the trend will continue, next album will be really great, and then next - perfect. And this actual one is promising and has really beautiful moments, surely needs to be listened.

I didn't know what to expect from this new album, but anyway I was very curious to listen. I'm on the final track and it's pretty good, way better than the previous ''The Brighest Light'' which for me was too boring and tacky. My fav tracks are: Another Fall From Grace, Meta-Amor-Phosis, Can't See the Ocean For the Rain, Tyranny of Secrets, Jade and the two final tracks Only You & You Alone and Phantom Pain.

Just bought the digital album of "The First Chapter" compilation album from 1987, its much darker than I thought, but this is really good for this band, since some say they are more pop than The Sisters Of Mercy, and I disagree, since The Mission formed the band , they kept The Sisters of Mercy as a non-gothic rock band, while The Mission transfered all the obscure sounds into them. This can be seen on this great compilation album.

@Jureiko I think it's one of their worst albums, similar to Aura or God is a Bullet. I think their best album is Carved in Sand. It's the point where The Mission started to move away from the "Sisters" sound of Gods Own Medicine and The First Chapter. Good shit.
