While The Shape of Punk To Come is the better album, I LOVE this record for how incredibly well executed the whole thing is. It's performed and recorded/mixed/produced perfectly. Everyone in the band is on top form - especially the drummer! The whole thing is razor sharp and focussed in a way few bands can really manage. It puts me in mind of the first RATM album in that respect (except no shitty Settle For Nothing). It still rips in 2023.

v . that is awesome. i love that book/movie, i should know this! I also prefer this over shape of punk to come. I suppose that makes me a cretin for not appreciating how progressive or whatever TSOPTC is, but this here album slays.

At the beginning of "High Fidelity" when the record store is shown for the first time, this CD is in the front window, left side!!!

Was hardly ahead of it's time... fairly standard 90's hardcore sound, really.

This is my favourite Refused album. Didn't used to be that way, but it grew on me.

TSOPTC did push the boundaries and I like it for that, but sometimes when i just wanna listen to a straight laid out dose of hardcore to get me going, this is the best album for that :)

Yeah, this album should not be ignored, it was still ahead of its time. TSOPTC and this have different feels so it's understandable for someone to prefer one over the other or even value them equally. I still don't think this was as groundbreaking and inventive as TSOPTC though.
