I kinda wanna sing Tiny Dancer and/or Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters by Elton John in some parts of this (beautiful) song.

would be the greatest "Canon in D"-inspired song since "Canon in D" if it weren't for "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space."

mrwetenhall it reminds you of The Band's "The Night They Drove All Dixie Down" because this track actually includes the late Levon Helm on drums, from The Band, who originally sang that song. Was recorded not far from Woodstock and The Big Pink, where The Band originally recorded.

At the time a completely new direction for MR. I've really grown to love it.

I think the touchstone is "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by The Band...but, that being said, I would highly recommend to anyone interested a trip to the rock sculpture from whence the song title must most certainly have been taken...it's the most magical place I've ever been to, right up there in the Catskills...Woodstock, Kingston...thanks Mercury Rev! You guys are fucking ace!

God! I used to live off Deserters Songs, played on a loop, again and again and again - But I haven't listened in years, and had completely forgotten how wonderful Mercury Rev's stuff is - so beautiful!
