Funky Nation: The Detroit Instrumentals is an instrumental album by Marvin Gaye. It was recorded during the summer of 1971, after Gaye refused to tour in support of his album 'What's Going On'.
While some of the tracks have been heard on prior special editions of Gaye albums, and the full collection was featured in the Super Deluxe 40th anniversary edition of 'What's Going On', this is the first time it has been released digitally as a standalone.
