You sure you listening with the right headphones/speakers my dude? Some kinds are low quality and makes mixing of songs way shittier than on others. That being said, the only songs I would agree with you on would be Death Portrait and Misery System because their hardest breakdowns gets a bit too loud in a peaking kind of way and you can hear it. Sun//Eater also has a similar breakdowns in a part of it but that would be an example of how it should of been mixed. FYI, Death Portrait sounded amazing live and the bass was perfection 👌 . I do have live pics on one of my Youtube Channels. If anyone wants links lmk! Death Portrait, To the hellfire, and here i return to nothingness

You should give Pain Remains a chance. The mixing issues in Immortal are not the case in the singles that have been released so far. The full album is out in 3 days. You seem to like the mixing in Psalms and Maleficium (which doesn't make any sense to me), so don't see you hating the mixing on the latest stuff since the ep they did with Will.

You shouldn't jump to conclusions because you can't actually know what I like and what I dislike. Will Putneys mixing is horrendous, too, which is why I'm not even bothering to listen to albums mixed by him anymore, but back when they made "Psalms" it was "just" bad. Honestly, most of these american sound engineers are taste- and talentless butchers before anything else and yeah, that's just my opinion. It sounds awful and I'm not even close to being an elitist or an oldschool-romantic. I can actually tolerate a lot when it comes to mixing/mastering and yes, times do change, but there's a limit, even for me. Ever listened to Northlane's "Alien" or "Obsidian"? That's exactly how a modern metal album should sound like. It's heavy, crunchy and forceful but also transparent and organic at the same time. There's actually a lot of space for small details and full instrumentation alike and you will never hear that on any Lorna Shore record because they chose compression and sterility instead.

Eight months in, still my AOTY for 2020 and the only things that have a shred of possibility to even come close to Immortal are the upcoming Anaal Nathrakh and Primitive Man albums
