I agree. This band really made me ilke deathcore a lot more tbh. You should check out Immortal and Flesh Coffin as well. Yes Will isn't the vocalist but it's stilll really good and top tier imho. If you like lower screamers then the screamer in Immortal you'll like a lot. As for Flesh Coffin, if you like Tom Barber's vocals in Chelsea Grin and Darko, you'll like thiis album too.

their metalcore ep from 2010 is hella great, kinda wish they stuck to that sound but bone kingdom was good too.

i hate how most of lorna shores identity comes from the fact they so crazy vocal stuff. modern deathcore as a whole is a pissing contest of "who can sound the craziest". just because its impressive doesn't mean its good, just saying.

Ok forget my previous statement as I remember I said that already. Wasn't there some band you said was an exception though? I swore you did but forgot which band. Like Signs of the Swarm or Infant Annihilator? Don't get me wrong I get where you're coming from but also can't help like there's a more polished way at doing it that wouldn't end up being in a way that you are saying. What would you say would need to change in order for you to hear those type of screams and not feel that way?

This comment section proves that metalheads who mainly listen to obscure bands and non-mainstream genres are basically the same as hipsters.

And metalheads who listen to mainstream genres? Can you define those everything actually? I feel like I read and ask about shit no one knows about, only something very subjective or even rather product of overthinking remains.

I feel like if they dialed back the "symphonic" and cringy cheese by about 85-95%, they would absolutely hit a truly great sweet spot. And I guess basically just be Cattle Decap with more breakdowns?

You should check out their albums Flesh Coffin and Immortal then especially Flesh Coffin. Flesh Coffin doesn't really have any symphonic moments. Immortal has symphonic moments in it but it's not overly dominating in the mix with cheese chord progressions and sounds darker. I have a feeling you'll like those albums more imho.

I don't mind the symphonic stuff, but I feel like on live shows they can dial back that volume a little and add a bit more bass.

I didnt think I'd see a band eclipse Suicide Silence in terms of popularity when it came to deathcore but here we are. Great musicians and I'm super happy they've broken through into the mainstream, theyre not the same band I saw at Club Red opening for Summer of Slaughter in 2019.

it's honestly hilarious how even normies know who this band is now. before to the hellfire, only people in the deathcore niche know them. now, it's not at all uncommon to find a 17-19 year old kid who knows Lorna Shore and listens to that one song. goes to show that there is no rhyme or reason to what gets hugely popular via internet memes

the thing is, it doesn't. any normie kid these days is likely to know who Lorna Shore is or have Master of Puppets (the song) in their regular rotation because of Stranger Things, but they never branch out beyond that, get into metal, or even listen to the whole album that the song came from, in my experience. the only reason they listen to the one song, and would have listened to it, is because it appeared in a piece of high profile pop culture/meme culture

I don't have TikTok, but let me guess, someone used 5 seconds of Lorna Shore as background mood music and then it went viral? Like with Deftones?

pretty sure tiktok isn't where lorna shore got its 15 minutes of fame, the vocals right before the final breakdown on To The Hellfire just became a meme because of how nuts they sounded

It was more due to all the reaction videos, to the final minute of "To the hellfire". That and then Will's video of his throat when he sings. They blew up in the Internet, fair and square. TBH, I really don't mind newcomers. If this is the way to introduce more people to the genre, that's great. Those who won't stay for long, will eventually stop listening and the rest will stay. Those who stay, power to them. I hardly disagree with your "normie kids" pov. You forget most of us started our listening habits to very corny shit, even inside the metal world. People that might evolve their listening habits to other sounds inside metal just show listening maturity and that's... normal. For anything, really. Video games, movies, etc. The metal community in this is toxic AF (not specifically talking about you OP). There is music for everyone, just let us be. Why does it matter anyway?

Used to really really hate deathcore and everything associated with it but I'm slowly starting to warm up to these guys. The overproduced over the top walls of blegh are exactly what you need sometimes! Shit is corny af but it tickles a specific part of my brain :)) all deathcore recs welcome!!

Actually I've discovered some doom metal artists that I actually really like so I take my doom metal mention back. Just frustrating that black/doom/thrash metal fans and metalcore/deathcore fans can't seem to ever get along and it really gets to me sometimes more than it should.

High Key, Pain Remains is a refreshing take on deathcore. At times brings me back to being in middle school listening to Dimmu Borgir's Death Cult Armageddon. The epicness, the unwordly heaviness of the blast beats. The absolutely insane vocals. They've definitely exceeded my expectations.

It's been a long time since I enjoyed an album this much. I'm not even a deathcore guy, but this shit transcends genres. It strikes a unique balance between catchy melodies and balls to the wall metal which prefectly reflects the emotional content of the lyrics. A lot of extreme metal lyrics are just pure fucking cringe to me, but Lorna Shore have managed to create something that works on multiple levels and can be interpreted in many ways beyond the lucid dream concept. It really is something special.
