Saw him live last Saturday with Bill Stewart. Probably the best live jazz performance I've ever seen in my life.

EnRoute trio live! (with the masters Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart) Also _Grace Under Pressure_ (featuring Bill Frisell), and _I Can See Your House From Here_, with the great Pat Metheny. My, but _A Go Go_ is certainly popular, judging by the charts. Guess that was a good commercial move of Sco's. Hardly my favorite, though...

http://www.en.solidarityofarts.pl/ The artistic quality of the whole undertaking is – once again – overwhelming. For instance, the jazz project Możdżer+ will feature some of the world’s top jazz musicians, and John Scofield is one of them. Some of them will be running highly anticipated workshops a couple of days ahead of the main event. It is the combination of the founding ideas and the artistic quality. We look forward to welcoming you in Gdańsk soon.

Dig his solo on "Hottentot", his masterpiece to date. The best jazz is improvised melodic composition, and this work sets the bar very high. Loose and tight, unabashed, bebop funky and funky bebop, pushing the envelope, ever soulful and passionate, reaching higher and attaining the top. Love the tag with psychedelic reverb. Touche! Take that, Mr.Brecker!

If anyone's interested in a free download, check out: http://www.last.fm/music/RGilmore/The+General+and+the+assassin It is basically a 40 minute improvised set featuring guitar and drums, broken up into segments. Music starts with the 2nd track. If you like it, check out more from Tepepan Records!

Ohhhh, what can be said about Sco?! Whew, so so much. Highly recommended from early on with Miles Davis to his own groups - all superbly perennial! Genius, soulful, emotive, and FUNKY... if i was stuck in an airport, bad weather, no end in sight, and plenty of batteries for my player, i'd definitely wish to have with me several CDs by this guy! Phenomenal - in particular Time on My Hands (1990), and Shinola (1981), oh and Pick Hits Live (1987), oh and also Quiet (1996), well also Uberjam (2002). Yeah, there's more but i'd run out of batteries!
