"Love Ridden" tells the story of a person who has been deeply in love with someone, but now realizes that it's time to let go. The first verse describes the intensity of the speaker's feelings, how they have focused all their energy on this person and even made wishes for them. However, in the second verse, the speaker acknowledges the truth about the relationship: the other person is not trustworthy and only brings them sadness. They want to be close to them, but they know that it will only end up hurting them more.
The chorus repeats the idea that the speaker is letting go of the intense connection they once had, addressing the other person as "simple name" instead of the endearing "baby" they used to use. The intimacy they once shared is now limited to "only kisses on the cheek", and they know that soon enough, they will have to part ways entirely.
The bridge represents a turning point in the speaker's emotional journey. They recognize that they have been standing in the way of their own progress and that it's time to move on.
