Man, I love this song. Those vocal lines are just perfect. Can't believe this isn't a bigger fan favourite of Devy. I just listen to the By a Thread version constantly and it's just like I've seen this song live once...

Yes, Devin loves the ocean. 'Like the rolling ocean' (Stand) and has it in many of his lyrics.

I guess he listened a bit to Fear Factory. The intro riff is almost identical to the one in Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies).

Hmm... did Ginger mind? Sounds awfully similar to a certain Wildhearts track...

I used this song for an English project once where we had to analyze the lyrics of a song of our choice. I wish I could remember what the project specifically was and what I said about it. Kickass track though.

Devin thanks a band called The Wildhearts (he played with them for a while in the 90s) in the sleeve for this song. The verse melody is very similar to a Wildhearts song called 'Vanilla Radio'. Also, Christeen was co-written by Ginger who is the the songwriter in The Wildhearts. Check them out (great f***ing band!) :D

I still can't believe this is the same guy that did Strapping Young Lad and was part of the Steve Vai thing. I don't know why that blows my mind so much. [2] It's so weird to listen to a softer Devin song like this then listen to Strapping knowing it was the same guy that wrote both. Crazy shit, Devin is a genius!
