Biography

Brian James is a musician, best known as the original guitarist for The Damned and The Lords Of The New Church. His first bands were the proto-punk London SS and Bastard. Some of the influences of Bastard's on stage appearance would surface later when James moved on to what would prove to be another pioneering punk band; The Damned, recording on their first two albums Damned, Damned, Damned and Music for Pleasure before leaving. Brian subsequently formed and disbanded Tanz Der Youth and Brian James Brain's who briefly became The Hellions. The latter suffered the indignity of being 'canned' off stage at Reading Rock '80 by a crowd who had come to see the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal bands whom the festival, by now, embraced. James guested on The Saints' 1982 album Out in the Jungle. He would later play in The Lords of the New Church with Stiv Bators. He recorded three albums with the band, playing with them from 1982 till their break-up in 1989. Brian James has also played with Iggy Pop's solo band including live albums such as Heroin Hates You. In 1998 James played guitar on an album with band The Dripping Lips. He currently fronts his own band The Brian James Gang, and is a founding member of the reformed The Lords of the New Church.

2) Brian James started his career in 1989 at the age of 16 being one of the first Techno Djs in Malta. At that time he hosted a radio show called Techno Nation . By then the first raves started and Brian was deeply involved, having the opportunity to play alongside big names such as Richie Hawtin, Surgeon,The Advent just to name a few. In 1998 he did his first music production together with Owen Jay, a track called Hydraulic Blast which was released on SOK. Brian set up his own studio and started working on music productions. On December of 2005 he released his first work on netlabel Pinkpube as the Manikins ep, which in February of 2006 was followed by another Manikins 2.The year 2007 starts with the Quorum ep on pinkpube a colaboration with another Maltese artist ( Dot ). In June the debut on belgian record label Aesthetik with Micromekanik which also contains a remix from Pheek. His sounds are of minimal nature, inspired by the works of G-man and Theorem.

3) Singer-songwriter Brian James was born in Canada, but grew up in Aruba, where he learned to play guitar and piano. He moved to Leiden in the nineties, where he recorded two albums: Right Here (2014) and Let it Ride (2016).
