"The Conflict Of The Mind" is a song by AURORA, released on January 18, 2024 as the second single from her fourth studio album What Happened To The Heart?.
In a social media post upon release, AURORA said: "This is a song for everything you never said. Everything we left unspoken. Everything we still feel, lingering in the air around us. I know many of you know how it feels to be in a family, where everything painful. Remains quiet. And hidden. There is nothing more painful than seeing the ones I love cry, but at the same time it fills my heart up. Because it's the greatest feeling in the world. To open up. And be there for someone. If only, we were brave enough. It's truly when we open up We find the purest proof of love hidden in the conflict of our minds."
In a press release, she stated: "I tend to isolate myself when I'm in pain. And with time, I've learnt that I've deprived the people around me of the great honour of being there for someone you love. Deep in there, beneath all the darkness, there is beauty. Once you've truly opened up you'll find a version of yourself you thought was gone. And it will be beautiful. Talk to each other before it's too late. All families have pain, and I believe talking to each other is an important part of healing. After the storm, comes peace."
On January 10, 2024, AURORA posted a photo on social media captioned with two emojis ("🫀🧠") on social media. A teaser clip with a pre-save link was shared on the same day, leading to two audio clips ("voicemails") by AURORA after subscribing to her newsletter. Another teaser clip, with a date and time as title, was posted on January 16. A day later this was revealed to be about the music video's premiere. The song's exact release was at the same time and was not promoted beforehand.
