I really enjoy their new "sympho black" aesthetic and the abuse of keyboards on the last records, much better than all those "horror-swamp-gore" boring OSDM-revival stuff.

Agreed, I've been obsessed with the tracks from the split. After the final song from "Bluenothing", I was guessing maybe the sound might completely shift to 90s style symphonic black metal; But hearing how that has been so successfully blended with the former doom influence, I am highly impressed and can't think of any other band Worm reminds me of.

Yes, exactly, I could have phrased that better originally. In Starpath Worm's sound seems like it has undergone additional development where the death/doom and the symphonic black metal parts are more homogeneous, more integrated. I commented before that the band reminds me a lot of Hesper Payne, their side on Starpath now makes me think that's no longer the case. It's different, I don't know who else is doing anything like this.

I feel like there's a lot of keyboard black metal that really straddles the line

Great stuff, I wish they would stop changing their logo though. It really bugs me...

I don't care that it's basically three songs, Bluenothing is my record of the year.

Mixing Death Doom and Symphoblack makes such a huge amount of sense in retrospect that I'm surprised there isn't much more of it and I want more immediately!

Bluenothing is like best death/doom track I've ever heard, and the EP as a whole is simply phenomenal.

new album is alright at best, feels uninspired and often forced as if they just made a new album for the sake of it which is often the case with most bands anyway.. compared to their previous album which was actually crushing dystopic deathdoom, this new one feels very underwhelming.

Such a thick and gloomy and actually weirdly beautiful record. Not many bands can play to the strength of less is more with such brilliant results as this. I find myself thinking about it a lot, the music and the Burroughs fever dream bad trip album cover have crawled into my brain and refuse to leave.
