Vanilla Ice worked with Ross Robinson the “Godfather of nu-metal” to make a rap-metal influenced album with live guitars and drums. Although released at the beginning of the popularity of the nu-metal genre, the album was received poorly by critics and fans as many found Vanilla Ice disingenuous with his appearance and lyrics portraying him as more urban than he was. “Too Cold” became the most successful single (due to it remixing Ice’s smash hit “Ice Ice Baby”).
