In January 2005, Misato Yamanaka (vocals, piano), Kaname Arai (guitar, synthesizer), Koji Tanemura (guitar), and Kazuya Hori (bass) formed Kacica. Kacica at first experimented with guitar sampling and fusing Japanese concepts with the then experimental chamber post-rock sounds of Mogwai, Mew, Deerhoof, and Sigur Ros.
